Ida Street

A one-block street between Gregg Avenue and Arkansas Avenue west of railroad tracks became part of Lafayette Street after a concrete bridge was built over the railroad cut in the 1930s. Previous to the concrete bridge, a wooden footbridge across the chasm of the railway cut.

Wilson Hollow

Most of Wilson Hollow disappeared when the creek running through it was dammed to create Wilson Lake, a city park. A hiking trail encircles the north end of the lake and crosses an extant portion of the creek where the ephemeral feel is still that of a hollow.

Westside Elementary

Westside Elementary School opened in 1921 on the north side of Stone Street. In 1951, it was converted to become the Fayetteville School District offices and still serves in that capacity. Students attending West Side were transferred to the then-new T.L. Bates Elementary nearby.

Wedington Drive
