This community name took in a swath of land north of the township line from about the location of present-day Agri Park, including Meadow Valley School, east to the Frisco Railway track, which included a siding also referred to as Barbara Switch near the intersection of Township Road and Gregg Avenue.
The place name shows up on county maps as early as 1894 and through at least the 1936 period.
Origin of the name is so far unknown.
