The mountain is loosely bounded by Interstate 49 on the west, Stone Street on the south, Lewis and Hartman avenues the east, and the Marinoni Farm on the north.

Its highest point of 1,526 feet above sea level is on the western promontory.

It is named after the Joy Pratt and Hogan Markham family. Parts of the mountain have also been referred to as Archias Mountain, Haskell Heights, Pratt Heights and Southwest Hill occasionally.

The mountain top includes a network of trails. A portion of the mountain’s northern side also includes a segment of the Fayetteville Traverse.

A large portion of the mountain top was purchased by a development company in the late 2010s and was met by demonstrations seeking to preserve the forested mountain both for the natural preserve and the historic nature of the early summer camps.
