Palace Theater

The Palace Theatre opened in October 1926 with seating for more than 700. It was equipped with a Barton organ.

It closed on Nov. 24, 1968, with Jack Lord in The Counterfeit Killer and Doris Day in The Ballad of Josie.

The theater then became home to the Arkansas Country Opry, which vacated the building on May 17, 1974, just prior to the entire block being torn down during the “urban renewal” period.
