Initially known as Cliff’s Midget Golf, this miniature golf course was at 1946 College Avenue next to a drive-in restaurant called Cliff’s Dairy Mart.
The miniature golf course included a dinosaur, crocodile and windmill among other obstacles trying to prevent golfers from reaching par.
The final hole was actually a series of holes within concentric circles that offered higher scores for smaller circles. All of the holes, though, deposited the player’s golf ball back into the small office where balls and putters were checked out.
Sundays through Thursdays, Cliff’s offered two rounds for the price of one.
Cliff’s began operating as early as 1947 and continued into at least the 1970s when the founder’s son took over and it became Chuck’s Mini-Golf.
The big green brontosaurus came from a Sinclair gas station on the south side of town and a later plaster stegosaurus was handcrafted to stand between putting greens.
