August 10 – Stage robbery; Old Main dedicated; SCAT

1859 — The Van Buren Press reported on this day an incident of "highway robbery" near Fayetteville. "The Overland Mail Stage which passed through [Fayetteville] here on Monday last, was robbed of a valuable trunk," a letter to the Press reported.
1875 — Dedication of the newly finished University Hall, later renamed Old Main, was celebrated on this day on the campus of the Arkansas Industrial University. An all-day picnic was spread on workbenches and eaten in the shadow of the South Tower. As the day's light faded, lanterns and bricks soaked in oil were lit and fireworks were fired.
1946 — South Central Air Transport, often known better by its acronym, SCAT, began commuter service between Fayetteville and Little Rock on this day. The first flight left Drake Field for Little Rock at 7:30 a.m.
