The hipped roofs of Carnall Hall on the University of Arkansas can be seen through the trees from the roof of Old Main in this post card. Incorrectly spelled on this card as “Cornell Hall,” Carnall Hall was the first female residence hall on the campus, and it was named for one of the university’s earliest graduates and female faculty members, Ella Howison Carnall. Through a public-private partnership, the hall was renovated and re-opened in 2003 as an upscale hotel and restaurant, used in part to train students in hospitality management. This card was postally unused and appears to have been printed by Curt Teich of Chicago.
