Razorback Stadium

Built in 1939, Razorback Stadium was originally named Bailey Stadium for Arkansas Gov. Carl Bailey. Bailey lost the 1940 election and his successor, Homer Adkins, installed a new board of trustees for the University of Arkansas, which changed the name to Razorback Stadium. The bowl-shaped hollow west of the main campus proved a natural place for the new football stadium, which previously had been near the intersection of Dickson and Garland. The view is south from the north end zone, where the Frank Broyles Athletic Center stands now. This card, printed by Curteich of Chicago, Illinois, was postmarked in Fayetteville on Nov. 23, 1948, and addressed to Mr. Scott Harrington of 1526 Thompson, Des Moines, Iowa. It read simply: “Scott, Study hard. Uncle Adelbert”
