Tucked beneath the oak trees of the Western Methodist Assembly, the summer cottages used by the assembly for visitors can be seen along the perimeter of Mount Sequoyah. The assembly was created in 1920 after the city of Fayetteville donated 400 acres of land on the top and backside of Mount Sequoyah to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Today, the park is called the Mount Sequoyah Retreat Center and is used for conferences. This card was printed by the Curteich Company of Chicago, Illinois, and postmarked July 7, 1943. Addressed to Mrs. Roy Rice of Strong City, Kansas, it reads: “I marked our cottage This is a grand place Will tell you more.”
