This, the St. Louis & San Francisco Railway’s second depot, was built on Dickson Street after an earlier depot on the same site burned in 1897. The depot was rebuilt again in a Southwestern Spanish style in 1925. From the turn of the century until the 1950s, the depot was one of the central gathering spots for college students, business travelers and families returning home. After passenger service was discontinued in 1965, the depot was used strictly as office space until 2006, when it was converted to retail space and regained its role as a public meeting place. Although postally unused, this card was addressed to Mrs. Willia Betts in Eastland, Texas, and dated 1907. It reads: “My dear Wife I will Rite you again I am [indiscernable]. hope this will find you all the same This is they pretest part I hav seen yet They have got some find land here and the finest springs I Ever Saw I Guess We Will Go on Too Eureka Springs Toomorrow Your true husbin J.T. Betts” The card was published for the Frisco Drug Store, J.C. Williams proprietor.
