Chris Manuel, Lifelong Resident, Dies at His Home

Christopher C. “Chris” Manuel, 60. lifelong Negro respect of Fayetteville, died at 12:30 a.m. today at his home, 408 East Center Street, after an illness of about a week. He had operated a shoe shine parlor more then 20 years at the Quality Shoe Shop and News Stand on Center Street.

The son of Joe and Susie Manuel, he was a graduate of Philander Smith College, Little Bock. He was n member of the St. James Methodist Church, and was also a steward, class leader and trustee of that church. He was a member and charity treasurer of Hill City Masonic Lodge No. 347 here.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lola Young, whom he married in 1911; his mother, Susie Manuel, Fayelteville; and several
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will he held Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the St. James Methodist Church by the Rev. A.L. Buchanan, pastor.
