Garry Morris, 84, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Grandview Medical Center, in Birmingham, Alabama, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born Sunday, December 21, 1941, at Jasper, Arkansas, to Benton Lee and Alice Smith Morris.
Garry graduated from Harrison High School and on April 15, 1960, married Kathleen Edna Clark. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with three children: Rowdy, Rhonda, and Roger.
Shortly after their marriage, Garry began what would become a lifelong calling in the funeral profession. After working in Harrison, he joined Brashears Funeral Home in 1966, where he faithfully served families and his community for more than 37 years before retiring in 2003.
In 1966, Garry combined his entrepreneurial spirit with his passion for fishing by founding Bass Booger Lures. Even during his years at the funeral home, he could often be found tying jigs and lures in the break room between serving families. Bass fishing remained one of Garry’s greatest joys throughout his life. He often joked that he tied baits all winter so he could fish all summer. During the colder months, he could frequently be found in his “man cave,” watching Razorback basketball games late into the night while completing lure orders. He was a loyal supporter of Razorback athletics, especially baseball, football, and basketball, and was a proud member of both the North Arkansas Bass Masters Association and the Arkansas Bass Nation.
A devoted man of faith, Garry served as a deacon at Eastside Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a former Sunday school teacher and a dedicated supporter of the Baptist Student Ministries program at Connors State College.
Garry was deeply committed to public service. He served on the Huntsville School Board, held the office of Madison County Coroner, and was a member of Huntsville Masonic Lodge #364. He also generously volunteered as a cook at Falls Creek Youth Camp, where he enjoyed serving young people and fellow volunteers alike.
Through his decades of service at the funeral home, his commitment to his community, and his many years spent on the water, Garry formed countless lasting friendships and touched the lives of many. Above all, Garry cherished his family. They were the center of his life, and the love, guidance, and devotion he shared with them will remain his most enduring legacy.
Garry was preceded in death by his one true love, Kathleen Morris, to whom he was married for 61 years; his parents, Benton and Alice Morris; and one sister, Sue Howard.
He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Roger and Jennifer Morris, of Fayetteville; and Rowdy Morris, of Muskogee, Oklahoma; one daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Dr. Van Reeder, of Birmingham, Alabama; three grandchildren; Austin Reeder, Lauren Gamble, and Hayden Morris; and six great-grandchildren, Charlee, Georgia, Nolan, Henry, Beau, and Nell. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Morris; his sister, Polly Ringgold; and his beloved dog, Mr. Higgins, a faithful companion and treasured friend.
The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2026, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 10 a.m., with Dr. Tom Hover, officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Shinn, Chuck Rexford, Ronnie Davidson, Bobby Howard, Tom Brown, Brad Morris, and Shane Hensley. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Parsons, Sumner Brashears, Jim Owens, and Paul Remington.
Interment will immediately follow services at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Fayetteville.
