Cindy Briscoe

Cindy Briscoe, a devoted servant of Christ, beloved wife, mother, and Gram, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 29, 2026. While our hearts are heavy and we miss her dearly, we rejoice in the promise of heaven and the knowledge that she is now resting in the arms of Jesus.

Cindy Briscoe

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 30, 1954, Cindy was the daughter of the late Gene and Pauline Higgins. She spent her childhood in Marianna, Arkansas, a time she remembered fondly as being filled with the love of her parents, her sister, and a large, close-knit family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. As a young girl, she found joy in the simple blessings of life: swimming, riding her bicycle, and losing herself in a good book while sitting under a favorite shade tree.

In 1969, her family moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas. It was there, while attending University Baptist Church and graduating from Fayetteville High School in 1972, that her foundations of faith and community grew into a lifelong servanthood to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

While studying accounting at the University of Arkansas, Cindy met the love of her life, Wayne Briscoe. Theirs was a beautiful, Christ-centered union that spanned nearly 52 years, beginning with their marriage on February 22, 1974. Together, they built a life of service and adventure, moving to and from Springfield, Missouri, where Cindy worked as a bookkeeper, then to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they raised their two beautiful daughters Kelly and Robin and continued to serve God within the community.

In Tulsa, Cindy’s heart for others, especially children, became truly apparent. As a member of Eastwood Baptist Church, she dedicated her time to the church’s K-8th school where her daughters attended. Cindy had a special gift for working with the children where she taught art, worked as a teacher’s aide, as well as opened her home to babysit “extra kiddos”. Cindy lived her life always under the shadow of God and modeled that life for her own children as well as the children she impacted during her time as a teacher. One of her constant lessons for life was “it doesn’t matter what everyone else is doing, you have to do what is right”. Cindy exemplified the life of a servant leader.

In her later years, Cindy and Wayne relocated to Claremore, where they were active members of First Baptist Claremore, before finally settling in Yukon to be near Wayne’s brother Milton. They joined Together We Church, formerly Trinity Baptist Church and continued to serve God. During COVID, Cindy once again started teaching only this time she opened her home to her grandbabies and set her house up for school. One of her fondest stories was telling people how she taught her youngest grandbaby to read during this time.

Cindy prided herself as a “math whiz”, she loved challenging puzzles, and quiet afternoons of reading in her chair surrounded by her many books. Cindy’s greatest earthly treasure was her family. She was the quintessential “Gram,” pouring her love into her six grandchildren and leaving them with a legacy full of beautiful memories, example of faithful servanthood, great one-liners and demonstrating the ability to find the good in all things. She lived her final days just like her beginning, with an abundance of gracefulness and kindness to all. She will be forever missed.

Cindy leaves behind her loving husband of the home, Wayne Briscoe of Yukon, Oklahoma. Her eldest daughter, Kelly Briscoe Hastings and her children, Emma, Payton, and Noah of Oswego, Illinois. Her youngest daughter, Robin Briscoe Colton and husband Tylar Colton, and their children, Addison, Micah, and Sarah of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her sister, Crystal and husband John McGregor of Laurel Park, North Carolina, along with their children, her nephew John Thomas McGregor, wife Carly, and their children Finley and Tavish and nephew Ian McGregor, wife Ashton, and their children Wylie and Wilder. Her brother-in-law, Milton and Carlene Briscoe of Moore, Oklahoma, and their daughter, her niece Debbie Briscoe and her children Breanna, and Cameron. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Pauline Higgins of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Donations may be made in her memory to the Faith Clinic at Together We Church, 620 N. Cemetery Rd., Building 2, Yukon, OK 73099.

A memorial service honoring Cindy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon, Okla.
