Tharp Cemetery is at the top of a rise along Old Farmington Road near its intersection with Mount Milsap Lane.
This cemetery started as a family cemetery for the Tharp and Thomas families who lived nearby on Old Farmington Road.
Soldiers who died during the Battle of Prairie Grove were also interred at the cemetery before being removed and reinterred at either the National Cemetery or the Confederate Cemetery, depending on their allegiance.
