He was born on August 7, 1952, in Bismarck, North Dakota to Francis P. Borden Jr. and Jean Agnes Kowalski.

In 1970, Jim graduated from Little Rock Catholic High School for Boys where he met many lifelong friends that he has cherished over the years.

He was a former walk-on for the Razorbacks’ football team during the Broyles era and a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Jim graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Degree in Art in 1975.

He spent many years in TV news and sports in Fayetteville and Little Rock with Hall of Famers Mike Nail and Paul Eells. Jim was a highly skilled videographer, who founded Network Video Productions in Fayetteville in the 1990s and produced countless stories, award-winning documentaries and sports videos for clients all over the country.

During his life Jim amassed one of the most expansive collections of sports and historical films of all things Razorback, which he and his wife recently gifted to the University of Arkansas in order to preserve these historical archives forever.

In July of 2025, Jim was honored to be inducted into the Arkansas Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame where he was presented with the Hall of Fame’s first ever Mike Harrison Excellence in Sports Media Award,

Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Peggy Mahony Borden and two beautiful Siberian Huskie girls, Alaska and Makita. He is also survived by one brother, Francis P. Borden III and wife Mindy of Monroe, Louisiana; two sisters, Patricia Mosier of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and Terry Sloane and husband Ralph of Glendale, Arizona, and his many wonderful nieces and nephews.

While Jim will be deeply missed there will be no public service. We encourage you to celebrate his life in your own way, perhaps by taking a moment of quiet reflection, a walk in a park or on a trail which Jim loved to do with his Huskies.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Catholic High School for Boys in Little Rock, Arkansas, and St. Judes Children’s Cancer Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for all the love, support and prayers as they grieve the loss of someone so very special.

Our family would also like to acknowledge all Hospice caregivers who are truly “Angels on Earth,” thanks to each and every one of you.

God bless you all.
