Mount Zion School, District 2, was established in 1871 or 1872. The district boundary for the school stretched from about the present-day Fayetteville High School west to somewhere between Rupple Road and Holland Drive.
The school building was on the north side of Old Farmington Road just west of Tudor Avenue.
