The Judge Howard Walk is a walkway on the University of Arkansas campus running along the south side of the Maple Hill Residence Halls and Hotz Hall.

As part of Washington County’s 911 response plans, walkways on the university campus that provide vehicular access to areas enclosed by buildings and other sidewalks were given names in the 2020s.
The Judge Howard Walk honors alumnus George Howard, one of the first Black students to enroll in the U of A School of Law after desegregation started at the university in the late 1940s and early 1950s.
Howard was the first Black student at the university to live in campus housing, be elected president of a student organization, and earn a bachelor’s degree, when he was awarded both a Bachelor of Science in Laws and the Bachelor of Laws in 1954.
He continued piling up firsts after college, becoming the first Black Arkansan to serve as a justice on the Arkansas Court of Appeals, the Arkansas Supreme Court and as federal judge for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas.
