Verda Maye Baker, age 77, of Fayetteville passed away on December 30, 2025, at her home. She was born on July 24, 1948, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, to Miles Couch and Reatha Hankins Couch.
She worked as a housekeeper. Verda was a member of Buckner Baptist Church in Fayetteville.
She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Baker.
Verda is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carl Baker; daughter, Carlene Laird of Elkins; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and three sisters, Carolyn Jewell of Elkins, Linda Laizure of Brentwood, and Roberta Edwards of Elkins.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Buckner Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Buckner Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Temple Hill Cemetery in Winslow, Arkansas.
