Professor Tom Paradise and University of Arkansas students went through the records of the Harvey House company, which operated restaurants, hotels and newsstands along major western railway routes, and showed that the Fayetteville Depot on Dickson Street included a Harvey House newsstand, starting about 1945 and continuing until at least 1965, when the St. Louis & San Francisco Railway eliminated passenger service on the Monett-to-Fort Smith segment.
The newsstand was in the southwest corner of the depot and served passengers inside the depot as well as those standing on the railway platform waiting for trains to arrive.
