When a final boundary was set between the Indian Territory, present-day Oklahoma, and the Arkansas Territory, that portion of the boundary from Fort Smith north to the Missouri border was referred to as the Cherokee Boundary and later as the Cherokee Line. The boundary south of Fort Smith was referred to as the Choctaw Boundary.
