Mary Francis Houghland, age 90, of Fayetteville died on December 19, 2025, in Fayetteville. She was born on April 4, 1935, in Blakeney, Texas, to Felix Steele and Bessie Louise (Davis) Steele.
Mary married Charles Houghland Sr. on March 13, 1953. She worked as a bookkeeper for their rental business. They were longtime members of Greenland Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Bessie Steele; numerous brothers and sisters; son, Bobby Dickson; grandsons, David Dickson and Zachary Houghland; and her beloved husband of 57 years, Charles Houghland Sr.
Mary is survived by her son, Charles Houghland Jr. and wife Lee of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Chuck Houghland and wife Lexy of Farmington, Arkansas, Amy Jefferson and husband Phil of Greenland, Arkansas, Clayton Houghland of Fayetteville, and Lisa Dickson of Ben Wheeler, Texas; brother, Shelby Steele and wife Cathelyn of Springdale; sisters, Betty Brockunier and husband Bill of Springdale, and Joanne Balser of Lafayette, Indiana; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2025, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2025, at Brentwood Cemetery, Brentwood, Arkansas.
