Several events will mark the reopening of the Historic Washington County Courthouse during the week leading up to September 18. All the events are open to the public, although space may be limited.
Tuesday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m. — Rededication of the World War I Mural
- Representatives of the Marion Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and Rick Parker, who cleaned the mural for display, will be on hand to rededicate the mural.

Friday, Sept. 17, 10 a.m. — Rededication of Freedom Shrine
- Members of the Fayetteville Exchange Club will rededicate the Freedom Shrine on the first floor of the courthouse. The shrine, which includes documents such as the U.S. Constitution, has been expanded with new documents.

Saturday, Sept. 18 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Reopening of the Historic Courthouse
- Ceremonies will start with a ribbon-cutting at the front of the courthouse at 9 a.m. Traffic along College Avenue will be diverted briefly.
- The public may take self-guided tours of the courthouse, exploring the renovated spaces and seeing the restored courtroom during the morning.
- Rededication of the third-floor courtroom will also occur in the morning with former county officials, judges and lawyers in attendance for opening of an on-the-record court session.
