October 8 – Bailey Stadium dedicated

1938 — The new University of Arkansas football stadium was dedicated
on this day. It was named for Governor Carl Bailey but renamed
Razorback Stadium after Bailey was defeated for re-election. His
successor, Homer Adkins, appointed UA trustees who renamed the stadium
and eventually forced UA President J. William Fulbright out of his job.
Today, the stadium is called the Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
