1886 — A charter was granted by the state of Arkansas on this day for the Fayetteville & Little Rock Railroad, which eventually became the St. Paul Branch of the Frisco.
1964 — The old Central Fire Station, built in 1911, was torn down on this day. The firehouse, which stood midway between Meadow and Center streets on the east side of Block Avenue, was replaced by a new central station on Center Street.
1970 — The Walker-Stone House, built in 1845 on West Center Street, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on this day.
1992 — The Agriculture Building, the Business Administration Building (now called Ozark Hall), the Chemistry Building, the Chi Omega Greek Theater, the Home Economics Building, the Men’s Gymnasium and Memorial Hall, all on the University of Arkansas campus, were added to the National Register of Historic Places on this day in 1992.
