2005 — The Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department officially opened the Lake Fayetteville Spillway Bridge on this day, connecting Veterans Memorial Park on the south side with the North Shore Softball Complex and finishing the Lake Fayetteville Trail, which runs the perimeter of the city property surrounding the lake. The bridge and 3,000 feet of paved path cost nearly $1 million.
