The dramatic skies above Fayetteville can still occur when the weather is right, but the colorful floral hem along U.S. Highway 71 north of Fayetteville has given way to five and six lanes of traffic in places. This view looks south from about where the southern entrance to the Northwest Arkansas Mall is today, across the valley of Mud Creek, where Joyce Boulevard crosses and Fayetteville’s most concentrated commercial district spreads. Postally unused, this “colourpicture” card was printed in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for the Ozark Grocer Company of Fayetteville circa 1950.
