Washington County Jail

Pc-jail

The Old Washington County Jail at the intersection of College Avenue and Mountain Street included offices for the county sheriff and deputies upstairs and jail cells in the basement. It served the county until the 1970s when a new jail was built farther north on College Avenue. In 1975 when it was empty, the Fayetteville Jaycees used it as a haunted house at Halloween. This card, circa 1914, was published by the Frisco Drug Store, J.C. Williams, proprietor, and was postally unused.
