Strawberry Harvest

30pcstrawberries

Although better known for its apple harvests, Northwest Arkansas also produced bushels and buckets of strawberries on farms across the western side of town. The photo for this post card was made by Burch Grabill. Postmarked February 23, 1912, the card was addressed to Mrs. Robert Hough of Mount Morris, Illinois. It reads: “Dear Aunt May, We have been having spring weather till yesterday There is a foot of snow on the ground now. Started in with a thunder shower. Roy had been plowing the land for our straw berry patch & acre and half. I haven’t been homesick yet. We are terribly busy painting. Will write later. Estella. R.F.D. #2”
