Walter J. Lemke

Dr. Walter J. Lemke, 77, Fayetteville, Ark., a native of Wausau, died Wednesday at his home. Funeral services will be conducted in that city on
Saturday.

Dr. Lemke was born in Wausau, was graduated from Wausau High School and earned his bachelor’s and doctor’s degrees from Baldwin – Wallace College, Berea, Ohio. He earned his master’s degree at
Northwestern University.

For 35 years Dr. Lemke was the head of the journalism department at the University of Arkansas. He retired five years ago.

Dr. Lemke was married to the former Marie Hemp of
Indianapolis in 1915.

She survives. Other survivors include a son, Walter H. of Little Rock, Ark.; a daughter, Mrs. Carol Sheffield, Manhattan Beach,
Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Edward Baur, Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Oscar Eggebrecht, 624 Birch St., Wausau.
