Rochier’s Pond was a small spring-fed pond across the highway from Fayetteville High School. The earliest reference to this pond was in 1839 when the Benge contingent of Cherokee citizens passed through Fayetteville after being forced from their homelands in Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee west to the present-day Oklahoma.
